Choosing The Best Pest Control Product For Your Needs

The pest control industry makes millions of dollars by selling different types of pest control product to homeowners each year. Some types of pest control product are better for handling certain problems than others, so it is important for the homeowner to know which products are best for which situations. Here is a brief rundown of common pest control issues and the pest control product options that are typically used to solve them.

Insect Infestations

There are many different types of pest control product options that can help you control an insect infestation. One of the most common types of pest control product used is bug spray. These bug sprays can be used to kill visible insects on contact and provide a barrier to the home that the insects either will not cross or will be killed quickly if they do cross the barrier.

If the home is in need of fumigation to kill all of the insects that are hiding in the cracks and crevasses of the home, then there is a pest control product that can handle that situation as well. Often called bug bombs or foggers, this type of pest control product releases a cloud of poison into the area so that the poison gets into every possible place in the area. Bugs that are lurking in cracks in the wall, behind or inside furniture, or in the vents of the home will all be poisoned and killed once the fumes from the poison have filled all areas of the home.

Mice Control

An infestation of mice in the home will require a different set of pest control product options for the home. Many people choose to use traps for capturing and killing the mice that have invaded their homes. These traps will generally kill the mouse that is caught quickly and humanely to eliminate the problem without causing undue suffering for the mouse.

There are two different types of traps that are used as a pest control product. Snap traps are composed of a metal bar and a spring loaded trigger that is baited with some food that would be attractive to a mouse. When the mouse takes the bait, the metal bar flashes down, killing the mouse instantly. The other type of trap commonly used as a pest control product is a glue trap, which is placed in a high traffic area for mice and causes the mice to become stuck in the glue where they are unable to get free.

Most types of pest control product can be found in local stores because they are needed so often by homeowners in many parts of the country. Some types of infestation can be so large that a typically pest control product would not be able to control the problem and professional assistance may be needed.
